Irene Sans has been named Chief Meteorologist at KTMD-47, Telemundo Houston. She starts the new job on Jan. 28. Irene was weekend weather anchor for WSCV-51 in Miami and KXTX-39 in Dallas until last Sunday January 6.
“While working in Telemundo 51 and Telemundo 39 as a weekend meteorologist, I also covered for the Telemundo Production Center,” explains Irene.
She says that for the past year and a half, through her work at the TPC, she has also delivered the weather for the Houston area, “so I am a familiar face in the city,” she says. “Houston is a great city, with great people, lots of culture, and has much to offer in the science field. I am excited to enter a new phase in my career and hope to create awareness among Hispanics about meteorology and the importance of it in our lives.”
Prior to joining Telemundo in 2010, Irene spent 2 years as a meteorologist for Weather Services International (WSI) in Boston, producing and delivering on camera weather segments for different cities across the US including and producing weather scripts for TV stations in Europe and the Middle East, such as Ireland (TV3) and Al Jazeera.
Before her job at WSI, she did a brief stint as weekend meteorologist for Telemundo Miami. She began her broadcast career as a freelancer for Univision Miami, while still in college.
