Hugo Balta, a Coordinating Producer for ESPN’S SportsCenter since 2011, has been promoted to a new role within the company.
He has been named Senior Director, Multicultural Content for ESPN’s Digital & Print Media team.
He officially starts the new position on December 1.
In his new role, Hugo, has been assigned to help raise the quality, profile and delivery of content targeting English and Spanish-speaking U.S. Hispanics for all of ESPN’s digital and print properties.
In order to accomplish these goals, he’ll partner with editorial leaders in Mexico and Latin America and across ESPN Deportes.
The immediate past president of the National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ), Hugo previously worked as Managing Editor at WCBS in New York and VP of news for Telemundo NY.

This is life. This person almost destroyed Telemundo 47. Sex scandals at channel 47 COVERED BY HR and later at CBS. Goes to ESPN in Connecticut, where he’s been keeping a low profile and look at this now…will he keep working as apparently he is right or will he do it again? Oopps. The worse is that this guy is the president of NAHJ!!! We will see.
