20 D.C. Hearst staffers moved into McClatchy’s Washington bureau offices. It looks like it’s all about cost-cutting and consolidation, even though Hearst spokesman did not explain the reason for the move.
According to E&P, legendary White House correspondent Helen Thomas, now a Hearst columnist, is among those who moved in to what used to be the Knight-Ridder D.C. bureau, before McClatchy bought the company.
That bureau now houses about 100 McClatchy staffers and the McClatchy-Tribune Information Service, in addition to newcomer Hearst employees.
