The Radio and Television News Director’s Association (RTNDA) will be doing its official name change on October 13. Starting that date, the group’s name will be the Radio, Television and Digital News Association (RTDNA).
A letter to the association’s members signed by the executive staff and members of the board explains this is the right time for the change “now that our industry is going through a metamorphosis.”
The RTNDA has been struggling with membership and convention attendance in the past few years. Leaving the elitist concept of a news director’s association and working to reshape it into the association for “electronic journalists” opens the door to more members.
Since April of 2002, RTNDA has been sharing the convention floor with NAB in Las Vegas. They have announced they will be joining forces with SPJ for its convention in 2011.
