Editor & Publisher will cease publication after 125 years. Staffers were surprised this morning by parent company The Nielsen Co.’s announcement that both print and online versions of the publication would be shut down.
Nielsen Business Media, of which E&P was part, recently signed a deal to sell 8 of its brands in the Media and Entertainment Group, including Adweek, Brandweek, Mediaweek, Backstage, Billboard, Film Journal International and The Hollywood Reporter. E&P was not included in the transaction. E&P reports its staff will stay on for the remainder of the year.
Editor & Publisher was launched in 1901, but its history goes back to 1884 with the creation of The Journalist magazine. Both publications merged in 1901.
