Nielsen announced it will start measuring television viewing in Puerto Rico using people meters. TV ratings, collected from a sample of 500 homes, will be available by the first quarter of 2010. The island’s 3 largest stations, WKAQ (Telemundo), WLII (Univision) and WAPA (independent) are Nielsen’s first clients.
Victor Vázquez will lead Nielsen’s new TV measurement system.
Kantar Media Research’s Mediafax has been measuring the Puerto Rican market since 1988. It also uses people meters in 550 households.
