Forget “e-mail.” Drop the hyphen. It’s now “email.” And “Web site” is now “website.” These are just some of the practical changes Yahoo recommends in its recently released “The Yahoo! Style Guide: The Ultimate Sourcebook for Writing, Editing, and Creating Content for the Digital World.”
Offered as an alternative to the AP Stylebook, Yahoo’s guide offers practical advice for writing for the web. It includes articles about appealing to an online audience, site accessibility for people with disabilities, search engine optimization, creating content for mobile devices and even writing headlines for the web.
The guide is online, but Yahoo will also release a print version. The internet company also made available Kindle and iPad apps starting yesterday.
