Telemundo Communications Group, Inc. today announced it has partnered with Florida International University’s School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) to establish Hispanic Media Futures. Designed as a student development program to train future Hispanic journalists and communicators, the initiative will pair Telemundo execs with SJMC students in a mentoring environment.
The inaugural group of students will begin the intensive program at the start of the summer 2011 semester. Students will be mentored by Telemundo execs in the areas of news, digital, research, and communications, and later assigned to specific jobs within the network, based on their area of study at the SJMC.
HMC is part of Telemundo’s multi-year commitment to advance the inclusion of Hispanic professionals in the communications industry.
