NAHJ kicks off 2011 convention

June 16, 2011 by Veronica Villafañe

NAHJ’s 29th Annual Multimedia Convention got its start Wednesday with all-day training sessions, an opening plenary featuring Mexican journalists explaining why they had to flee their country and seek political asylum in the U.S., and ending the evening with a super-production party hosted by Disney.

Today’s big event is the Newsmaker Luncheon, titled “A View From the Top.”  Top executives from Spanish-language media companies will be talking about the future of Spanish-language news and their impact in the media landscape.  The panelists that will be joining the discussion are Monica Lozano, CEO of ImpreMedia, Isaac Lee, President of News for Univision, Ramón Escobar, Executive Vice President of News for Telemundo, and Eduardo Zavala, Vice-Chairman and President of Digital, Broadcast and News Operations for ZGS Communications. I will be moderating the session.
