KMEX and WLTV join mobile TV venture

Dyle is the consumer brand of MCV's national mobile content service that will deliver live television to mobile devices.

Univision Television Group today announced Univision stations KMEX-34 in Los Angeles and WLTV-23 in Miami are joining the Mobile Content Venture (MCV), which was launched in April of 2010.  This means that Univision content in those two cities will become available via mobile devices.

Univision’s KMEX and WLTV join more than 70 U.S. stations, including Pearl Mobile DTV (Belo Corp., Cox Media Group, E.W. Scripps Co., Gannett Broadcasting, Hearst Television Inc., Media General Inc., Meredith Corp., Post-Newsweek Stations Inc. and Raycom Media), as well as NBC, Telemundo, Fox, Bahakel, and ION Television, which have previously announced plans to enable their stations to transmit a mobile broadcast using consumer mobile digital TV service Dyle.

“As the Dyle mobile TV footprint continues to expand, we are especially pleased to see the leading Spanish-language media networks support the Dyle consumer launch in 2012,” Salil Dalvi and Erik Moreno, co-GM’s of MCV said in a statement.

The consumer launch of the Dyle mobile TV service is expected in the first half of 2012.

MCV expects to offer the mobile video service on more than 72 stations in 32 markets, reaching 50% of the U.S. population.  Markets include: New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Dallas, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Tampa, Phoenix, Minneapolis, Orlando, Portland, Cincinnati, Greenville, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Knoxville, Miami, Las Vegas, Denver, St. Louis, Cleveland, Charlotte, Seattle, Raleigh, Kansas City, Columbus, Tulsa and Montgomery.
