Noticiero Univision attracts younger viewers than ABC, NBC or CBS

Jorge Ramos and María Elena Salinas inaugurated a new set in January of this year.

The weekday version of “Noticiero Univision” (Monday-Friday, 6:30-7:00 p.m.), anchored by Jorge Ramos and María Elena Salinas, saw audience growth across all key demographics while the English-language broadcast networks reported minimal audience lifts and/or declines in January 2012 compared to January 2011.

According to Nielsen data provided by Univision, the weekday national newscast consistently grew its news audience in the last 7 consecutive months (July 2011 through January 2012) across all Viewers 2+ and in the last three consecutive months (November 2011 through January 2012) among key Adult 18-49 and Adult 25-54 viewers.

Numbers show Univision is attracting audiences that are a generation younger than the competition (a median of 44 years old vs. the median English-language broadcast news audience of 62).

During the month of January 2012, “Noticiero Univision” delivered more young viewers ages 18-34 than “CBS Evening News” (434,000 vs. 418,000).
