The Univision/ABC partnership is starting to bear fruit. During yesterday’s ABC News, Dianne Sawyer had a conversation with anchor Jorge Ramos about the Supreme Court’s ruling on SB1070, Arizona’s controversial anti-immigration law. The exchange lasted about two minutes.
Sawyer’s intro and first question was a big plug to Univision. It was interesting to note she stressed both networks had a “shared audience.”
After saying ABC had been following “the furious debate on the internet” to the ruling, she says:
“One perspective tonight… from Univision. Our new partners and friends and the number one Hispanic network in America. I talked the co-anchor of Univision evening news, Jorge Ramos. Jorge, what does this mean for our shared audience tonight?”
Jorge’s response was on point, but showed a great deal of personal opinion on the issue:
“I think this is very disappointing and very dangerous. This is a very sad day for the Hispanic community when the Supreme Court allows a state like Arizona to use racial profiling as a rule — we know that we really need immigration reform right now….
It’s difficult to believe that the immigration law in Arizona could be an example for other states in the country and it’s even more difficult to believe that Sheriff Joe Arapaio could become a role model for other law enforcement agencies. It is completely unreal.”
ABC took the opportunity to show they’re now “connected” to the Hispanic audience via their Univision partnership. It’ll be interesting to see if they include more Univision talent participation in their news properties in the coming months as talk of the importance of the Latino vote in the next elections continues to grow.

First, let me start by saying that it is the media that misinforms the Hispanic Community. Jorge and Diane while respected in their profession they should at least report the facts. Fact one: Three provisions of the SB1070 were struck down. Fact two: What was left in place is a law that was passed by Bill Clinton in 1996 with a Republican Senate and Congress, which is the same as the last provision of SB1070. Fact three: if you are detained and held, then police can ask you for your legal status. Furthermore the Supreme Court made it clear that law enforcement can only ask you for you legal status, if you are detained not stopped. If they stop you and not detained you and ask you for you legal status, they will be in violation of your civil rights, which in turn will make the last provision of SB1070 Unconstitutional. Instead of portraying our community as victims he should focus reporting the facts. He should also talk about the fact that we as a community have the ability to determined our political future. It is time that we stop both parities from using us only when they need us. Until then people like Sheriff Joe in Arizona will always have the upper hand. We have only ourselves to blame. There are 20 Million register voters in the US, and yet no more than half show up to the voting booths. Again, it is time we demand action, and its time for the media outlets to stop portraying us as victims

UNIVISION AND ABC ARE PARTNERS NOW, SURPRISED???? “DIOS LOS CRIA Y ELLOS SE JUNTAN.” JORGE RAMOS NEEDS TO LEARN TO REPORT AND NOT TO BE SUBJECTIVE. HE IS MISINFORMING AND ALARMING THE MEXICANS BY SAYING THEY ARE FEARFUL OF BEING PERSECUTED, FLEEING ARIZONA, ETC. BESIDES, WHEN YOU ENTER ANY COUNTRY WITHOUT THE PROPER DOCUMENTATION YOUR STATUS IS “ILLEGAL” (NOT UNDOCUMENTED LIKE HE LIKES TO CALL ILLEGALS)AND AS AN ILLEGAL PERSON YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS UNDER THE CONSTITUTION OF THE USA – THIS DOES NOT MEAN THEY SHOULD BE MISTREATED. ON THE OTHER HAND, WE ALL HAVE TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION WHEN WE BUY WITH A CREDIT CARD, WHEN WE VIOLATE A TRAFFIC LAW, WHEN WE TRAVEL DOMESTICALLY OR ABROAD, WHEN WE VOTE, ETC. I FEEL THAT IS APPROPRIATE AND THAT IS WHY I BECAME A PROUD USA CITIZEN.
JORGE RAMOS IS PITIFUL……………RESENTMENT TRANSPIRES THROUGHOUT HIS WORDS. WHY IS HE NOT IN MEXICO?

Well, the Supreme Court ruling on SB 1070 leaves a lot to be desired.
1st and foremost, the ruling obliterates the right of States to evict illegal, unwanted and in many cases criminal elements from foreign countries.
This is the last thing that our founders and the Constitution prescribed for the relationship between the Government in Washington and the States.
Mexico which is the main contributor to illegals into our Country has much stricter laws, which compared to ours may be called draconian.
Not very well mentioned but nevertheless the main reason why millions of illegals has been allowed to get into the Country with the complicity of the Federal Government is to follow the dictates of the Elites bent on destroying the sovereignty of our Nation.
Of course there is much more about why our Country has become the only one among the nations of the Planet that allows very close to unrestricted entrance and both Parties (subservient to the Elites) have very different reasons to be part of this travesty.
The Republicans due to their quest to obtain cheap labor for the big agriculture companies and the Democrats to increase the number of people in need of Government help and to increase the number of Democrat voters.
And of course, lets not forget that the Democratic Party has been for long time (even before the 1973 Supreme Court Ruling) promoting abortion and they need to make up the 50+ million murdered babies with the many millions that entered illegally thru the open borders.
How sad to realize that most people do not have the slightest idea of the true culprits behind the destruction of our Country blindly blaming the Political Parties without being aware that the problem is not with the puppets but with the puppeteers.

What I don’t get is all immigrants struggle to get to this country so, when they get into the country illegally, the US Government is supposed to back out and just say “OK you did it, now you are entitled to be in this country”? I don’t think so, I feel for them but all this news give all these poor people a hope that doesn’t exist I hope that something can be worked out for them but following rules and US regulations
