Harry Ruiz has been hired as sports anchor at KINT-26, the Univision affiliate in El Paso. He replaces Omar Ropele, who left at the end of May to pursue another opportunity outside of TV. Harry started his new anchoring gig yesterday.
Although L.A. born and raised, Harry moved to his parents’ hometown of Torreón, Coahuila to study sports communication. That’s also where he started his sports journalism career, working in radio and television, and where he was a sports reporter and anchor for Televisa.
Prior to moving to El Paso, he spent some time in L.A., collaborating as a correspondent covering sports events for Mexican websites and radio stations.
His current job at Univision 26 El Paso marks the first time he works in a TV station based in the United States.
