Kate del Castillo will be a guest star in an upcoming episode of the NBC’s drama series “Grimm.” As part of a Halloween special, the show will air an episode titled “La Llorona” inspired by the Latin American legend. Kate stars as a detective on a mission to uncover the truth behind the disappearances of children on Halloween.
In an unprecedented move, NBCUniversal is doing a cross-divisional event with its NBC series “Grimm,” teaming up with Telemundo and mun2 for the special episode, which airs October 26 and 27.
The “La Llorona” episode of “Grimm” debuts on NBC at 9-10 p.m. (ET) October 26. It will then be broadcast in Spanish on Telemundo from 12-1 a.m. (ET) and English on mun2 at 1-2 a.m. (ET) on October 27.
The legend of La Llorona (“The Weeping Woman”) is a tale from Latin American folklore that tells of a distraught mother who drowned her children and then herself. Her ghost emerges from the water to terrorize the living.
This is Kate’s second big guest role on English TV. She previously guest starred on 6 episodes of season 5 of Showtime’s “Weeds.” Last year, she starred in the Telemundo hit “La Reina del Sur.”
NBC Entertainment execs say this cross-divisional partnership shows “strong synergy” between its media properties and highlights their “understanding of the Hispanic market.”
