Almost 3 weeks ago, I reported Rubén Keoseyán had left the top editorial job at La Opinión to take the top news job at KVEA-52. Moments ago, Telemundo Media officially announced Rubén’s hiring. He has been named Vice President of Content, Telemundo Los Angeles KVEA, effective immediately. He’ll report to Celia Chávez, President and General Manager of KVEA.
According to the release just issued, Rubén “will lead KVEA’s news department to solidify its competitive position in the market, ensuring the gathering and distribution of high quality news coverage across all platforms. In addition, he will be responsible for ensuring all local newscasts reflect and serve the needs and uniqueness of the Greater Los Angeles Hispanic community.”
Rubén was Executive Editor of La Opinión from August 2011 to Sept. 2012. He previously held the same role at the paper from 2000 to 2005. He has also been the Publisher and Editor Chicago’s La Raza and Director of Puerto Rico’s Primera Hora newspaper.
In the 1990’s he worked at KEYT, Santa Barbara’s ABC affiliate, as news simultaneous interpreter. He also founded the first 30-minute Spanish-language newscast in California’s central coast through an NBC affiliate.
