Two bilingual freelance multimedia reporters are the winners of the Media Moves/Hispanicize journalist contest.
Melissa Gonzalo @meligonzo, from Los Angeles, is the grand prize winner. In addition to round trip airfare to Miami and a two-night hotel stay, Melissa will also get a free registration to attend the 2013 conference, courtesy of Hispanicize.
Carolina Cruz @K4RO_21, from Chicago, is the second prize winner. She’ll get a free registration for the conference.
Melissa has over 13 years journalism experience. She has worked as an on-air reporter and anchor for Telemundo in Bakersfield, Univision network in Los Angeles, mun2, LATV and NBC in Phoenix. She has also been a writer/editor for several publications.
A recent college graduate, Carolina has been freelancing for various Hispanic websites and newspapers in Chicago since 2010, most currently with La Raza newspaper.
