mun2, the cable network targeting young, Hispanic millenials, held a double upfront – one in New York on Tuesday and the second in Los Angeles on Thursday.
During both events, mun2 General Manager Diana Mogollón revealed the newest programming that will air on the network in the 2013-2014 season, with some of the show’s celebrities on hand to help promote the shows.
In addition to boasting that it produces over 200 hours of original programming a year, mun2 announced the launch of 3 new original series and is developing the series “Movie Crashers” for Fandango Cine.
mun2 will also be the exclusive Hispanic cable home to the Barclays Premier League this summer. Additionally, it will be working closely with Telemundo Deportes. Viewers can expect to see Telemundo sports announcer Andrés Cantor on mun2.
Here’s the cable net’s programming slate for the 2013-2014 season:
NEW SERIES
“Viva los Vargas” – Premieres 2014. The reality docu-series follows two-time world boxing champion Fernando Vargas and his family. Shot in his home in Las Vegas, the one-hour series shows how Fernando and his wife Martha raise 3 sons and a daughter, as he copes with his life outside the boxing ring.
“Reinas de Realty” – Premieres 2014. The one-hour docu-reality series follows close friends and outspoken business partners Jackie Mateos and Liz Perez, as they handle family, success, and contractors, while trying to sell homes to Latinos in Souther California.
“Horóscopos” – Premieres 2014. The celebrity reality series centers on Chicago-based sisters Vicky and Marisol Terrazas, regional Mexican music stars who lead the long running group Horóscopos de Durango.
MUSIC
“Al Tiro con La Bronca”– Premieres April 2013. Syndicated radio personality La Bronca joins mun2, adding vivid commentary to topics ranging from love, fashion and “how to’s” in a weekly show.
¡mun2POP! – Premieres Summer 2013. Guad and Emeraude host this one-hour, weekly original music show that takes center stage on the trends in celebrity, music, movies and television.
SPECIAL EVENTS
“Premios Billboard de la Música Latina” – Premieres April 27th 2013. mun2 presents this one-part, three-hour special featuring music stars Carlos Vives, Romeo Santos, Gerardo Ortiz, Marc Anthony, and Juan Luis Guerra.
SPORTS
Barclays Premier League – Premieres Summer 2013. The famous league makes it to mun2 in this hosted, two-hour live soccer series exclusive to mun2 in Spanish. Viewers can watch Javier “Chicharito” Hernández, one of Mexico’s most famous players as he competes with his team – Manchester United.
“Más Rumbo Mundial” – Airs June 4 and 7, October 15, 2013. This half-hour live post-game show is hosted by the award-winning Deportes Telemundo team, Sammy Sadovnik and Andrés Cantor with field reports from Kaziro and participation from Karim Mendiburu and Jessi Losada. The show features extended highlights of the game, post-game reactions, social media feedback from fans, analysis of the match, and a preview of what to expect next for both teams.
RETURNING SERIES
“Larrymania” – 2013. mun2’s most watched original series for 2012 and the #1 program in its timeslot is back for its second season. The show continues to follow regional Mexican music superstar Larry Hernández, whose fan-base is over 2 million on social media. Season two will capture his tour – Larryvolución 2013, his jet-setting schedule across the U.S. and Mexico as he juggles family life.
“Dub Latino” – 2013. Back for a second season, the weekly magazine series reveals the car culture passions and lifestyles of Latino celebrities.
“Reventón” – 2013. Airing Saturdays at 1pm EST on Telemundo and Sundays at 12pm EST on mun2, “Reventón” is the #1 Regional Mexican music countdown series showcasing the top music videos of the week, as well as the artists, the music trends, and the culture that move the genre. Hosted by Yarel Ramos and La Bronca.
