Telemundo today announced it will launch its first local newscasts in its station in Philadelphia in January 2014. The network is looking to hire 15 people to fill the roles of reporter, producer, anchor and photographer, as well as positions in sales, finance and engineering.
The new employees will be part of NBCUniversal. The new positions will be based at the WWSI-62 facilities in Bala Cynwyd, PA.
The two new, high-definition Spanish-language newscasts will air live Mon-Fri at 6 and 11 pm. The newscasts will benefit from new technology investments in WWSI, including a more powerful transmitter and stronger antenna, scheduled to be installed in November 2013.
NBCUniversal’s Telemundo Station Group completed the acquisition of Telemundo Philadelphia from ZGS in July. It paid $19 million for the station.
Eric Lerner is the President and General Manager of Telemundo Philadelphia and NBC10 Philadelphia.
