KUTH Univision 32 has launched two daily local news half-hour broadcasts in the Salt Lake City. “Noticias 32 Salt Lake City” airs weeknights at 5 and 10 pm.
The station previously had a newscast until September of 2008, while it was operated by Equity Media Holdings. Univision, which owns the station, took over operations and eliminated the newscasts until last week.
The news team includes news director/anchor Irene Caso and multimedia journalist Viviane Quintela. The newscast will also tap network resources, including updates by meteorologist and oceanographer Gloria Carmona from Univision’s national weather center in Miami.
Irene started her career 9 years ago as an assignment editor/reporter for KUTH 32. She went on to anchor a hubbed newscast for several Univision stations out of Little Rock, Arkansas, but returned to Utah to host a radio talk show called “Punto de Encuentro” for Bustos Media. She was most recently news anchor and producer of “Noticias Mundo Fox 23.”
Viviane has been with the station for the past 3 years as host of “Enlace Semanal,” Univision 32’s community affairs program.
Luis Fernandez-Rocha is the SVP and GM of Univision’s O&O in Salt Lake City.
The newscast’s first day was Sept. 30.
