After 6 years at WFAA 8, reporter Monika Díaz is leaving the Dallas-based ABC affiliate. Her last day is Dec. 3.
Prior to moving to Dallas in 2007, Monika worked as a general assignment reporter at KXTV-10 in Sacramento. She previously worked at KSTS 48 Telemundo in San Jose.
Monika began her broadcast career at WSVN 7, Miami’s Fox affiliate, in 1996 as a feed operator, moving to a news writer position months later.
According to Ed Bark, Monika decided not to renew her contract to move back home to Miami to help take care of her stepfather, who has Supranuclear Palsy, a rare brain disorder.
“It was not an easy decision….I want to be there for my mother and my family at this time,” Monika told Bark. “Right now, I don’t know what the future holds…. But I do know that I love what I do. I’m exploring other opportunities.”
