No new episodes of “DNA,” hosted by Derrick Ashong will be produced and “The Morning Show” will be moved to primetime in the coming weeks, reairing the following morning.
A network source tells me staff was notified of the changes on Thursday.
Apparently, Derrick will stay on with the network and will likely be included in another program.
Fusion currently has about a dozen programs in development for 2014.
A staffer said some people were laid off in the reorganization, but a Fusion spokesperson would not address the issue.
The spokesperson would only say that over the next several weeks, Derrick will “bring his distinctive voice to Fusion’s coverage of the Superbowl, SXSW, and the Ultra Music Fest in Miami.”
UPDATE – Hours after publishing this story, a network spokesperson responded to the layoffs: “While a small number of positions were eliminated, we will be expanding our staff in the coming months as the network evolves.”
Fusion currently has several open positions.
