Upfront week is on. During its presentation tonight in New York City, Azteca América announced it’s dropping “América” from its name.
Manuel Abud, president and CEO since March of this year, made the announcement saying it would “create a better connection” with the network’s audience.
The website already reflects the change. The www.aztecamerica.com URL now redirects to www.us.azteca.com and the logo only reads “Azteca.”
Azteca also announced its new lineup, which includes the telenovela “Las Bravo” starring Edith Gonzalez, Saúl Lisazo and Mauricio Islas, set to premiere in the fall.
Other shows on the schedule: “El Club del Chiste” and soccer program “Friday Night Fútbol.” The returning series are “La Academia Kids,” “Ventaneando,” “Venga La Alegría” and “Al Extremo.”
