Univision is gearing up for more reality shows and has already tapped some high-profile talent to participate.
The network has picked television personality Galilea Montijo to host “Va Por Ti,” a new singing competition show that will premiere on Univision on Sunday, September 7 at 8 pm ET.
Galilea is currently one of the co-hosts of the daytime entertainment program “Hoy,” and previously hosted the children’s talent show “Pequeños Gigantes.”
“Va Por Ti,” a co-production of Televisa and Univision, will also feature a cast of celebrity coaches and judges that include Mexican singer/songwriter/actress, and former member of the super-group RBD, Dulce María, Cuban-American actor singer/songwriter Jencarlos Canela, and Regional Mexican music star Larry Hernández, among others yet to be announced.
Auditions for the show were held in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Houston, Miami, Puerto Rico and online this past spring/summer.
Univision also announced that Alejandra Espinoza will be the host of “La Banda,” the music reality competition show produced by Simon Cowell and FremantleMedia Latin America that aims to create the world’s ultimate Latino boyband.
Alejandra joined Univision’s on-air talent roster after winning the first season of the network’s reality contest “Nuestra Belleza Latina” in 2007.
Since then, she has appeared regularly in “Sábado Gigante,”“El Gordo y La Flaca” and participated in several Univision network specials. Earlier this year she became co-host of the 8th season of “Nuestra Belleza Latina.”
“La Banda” is slated for a 2015 debut on the Univision Network.
