Telemundo wins international Emmy for “Señor de los Cielos”

Marcos Santana (L) and Joshua Mintz picked up an International Emmy for “El Señor de los Cielos.”

Telemundo’s original production “El Señor de los Cielos” won the first-ever Emmy® award given in the category of Non-English Language U.S. Primetime Program.

Joshua Mintz, EVP of Scripted Programming & General Manager for Telemundo Studios and Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Internacional picked up the award during the 42nd International Emmy® Awards held in New York City last night.

Telemundo was almost guaranteed a win in the category. It held 4 of the 5 nominations.

Produced by Telemundo Studios and filmed by Argos Television, “El Señor de los Cielos” has delivered strong ratings for the network.

A third season of the narco novela is currently in preproduction and is slated to premiere in 2015.
