The show was followed by the inaugural edition of the Spanish-language production of “SportsCenter” and a live telecast of an NBA game – Golden State Warriors vs. Dallas Mavericks.
At the time of inception, ESPN Deportes started with six studio shows. In addition to its anchor “SportsCenter,” it launched “Fuera de Juego,” “Fútbol Picante,” “NFL Semanal” and “Perfiles.”
Eleven years later, ESPN Deportes features 14 year-round radio and TV sports studio shows and 20 seasonal shows and is currently available in 6 million Hispanic households.
General Manager Lino García has been leading the network since before the launch.
“In only one decade, we have built and established a sports brand that serves Hispanic fans with culturally relevant content across many platforms,” he says. “We are very proud of our achievements and continued growth, and we look forward to greater success for years to come.”
