CNN en Español host Ismael Cala is expanding his on-air profile. Starting tomorrow morning, Monday, January 12, the journalist and motivational speaker joins Univision’s “Despierta América” as the morning show’s newest co-host.
A network spokeswoman says Ismael arrives to the program to “bring the U.S. Hispanic audience his motivational and inspirational messages.”
The announcement comes days after the network confirmed co-host Paul Stanley left the show.
In addition to being a 25-year journalist veteran, Ismael is the author of two self-help books: “El Poder de Escuchar” (“The Power to Listen”) and his recently released “Un Buen Hijo de P” (“A Good Son of a P”), which he promoted on “Despierta América” in November of last year.
Ismael will be pulling double duty as he will be continue to do “Cala,” his own nightly interview program on CNNE, on the air since November 2010.
He was previously an anchor and correspondent at CNNE. Before that, he was the host of “Calando Fuerte,” a show on Miami’s América TeVé and hosted the morning radio show “Ismael Cala y la Jungla de la Mañana” on Mega 94.9 FM.
OneEye says
Good for him. Talented guy. No doubt
I hope the “maldicion” of that show, wont affect his future.
One thing is for sure: he is raking it big, by pulling double duty out of Miami. Try to nap often, dear Cala.
This a first, given the way “Emperor Univision” drives it business. The Doral brand only likes to keep this motto: “my way or no way, -or maybe, the highway”. At least for the peasants, not for their King and Queen.
