The NorCal Academy of Television Arts and Sciences issue separate awards for English and Spanish language categories.
Marigeli says
What Univision 19 doesn’t tell you is that these Emmy nominations are a complete joke. Spanish language is a separate category than General Market (English language) in the Northern California Emmys. L.A. and San Diego Spanish language stations compete fairly with their General Market counterparts, as it should be. If you see the list of nominations for the “Spanish language” Northern California Emmys, the majority do not even have competition, and the ones that do are only competing with THREE other stations, and TWO of those are other Univision stations. How in the world is that allowed? It is a monopoly! The Academy should correct his, because a ton of crappy Univision anchors and reporters are getting Emmys that, believe me, they do not deserve. Their anchors are terrible, their reporters are not journalists, and their producers are even worse. They do not show news programming that is worth watching, and they are lowering the bar for what used to be a prestigious award.
