Kevin Cuddihy, Univision’s President of Local Media, is leaving the company. Today, Univision Communications, Inc (UCI) announced he will be replaced by John W. Eck as Chief Local Media Officer, effective immediately.
Cuddihy, who has been in his current role since last year, joined Univision in 2009 as EVP of TV Advertising Sales for Univision Local Media.
Eck will now oversee UCI’s local business including the company’s 128 television and radio stations in key markets across the country, as well as maintain his technology, operations and engineering responsibilities. He’ll remain based in New York and continue to report to President and CEO Randy Falco.
Eck, who joined Univision as VP of Technology, Operations and Engineering in 2011, previously worked at NBC Universal for 18 years.
Although the company announced in a release that Cuddihy “has decided to step down” and “will work with Eck in the next few months to support him in the transition,” his exit comes as a surprise.
Univision has been doing executive reductions and reassignments as it continues to prepare for its IPO, which a source says is likely to happen at the end of November or early December.
