González named Director of Office of Cuba Broadcasting

Malule González has landed a new job as Director of the Office of Cuba Broadcasting. She’ll be responsible for the strategic planning and direction of TV Martí, Radio Martí and Martinoticias.com, effective December 12.

She’ll be taking over for Carlos A. García-Pérez, who was OCB Director for five years.

González resurfaces more than a year after Univision’s shutdown of news operations in Puerto Rico forced her exit. She had been VP and Station Manager of WLII Channel 11 from January of 2012 until October of 2014.

Univision’s restructuring left about 100 people without a job in Puerto Rico.

Prior to joining Univision Puerto Rico, she was General Manager of CV 24. She previously held multiple roles at Telemundo and Univision networks, and helped launch the now-defunct CBS Telenoticias.

González began her journalism career as a writer, producer and manager in Puerto Rico before she moved to Univision in 1989.
