KUVS Univision 19 and KSTS Telemundo 48 were big winners at the 45th Annual Northern California Area Emmy® Awards on Saturday, June 4.
Univision’s Sacramento station picked up 18 Emmys, including one for Overall Excellence/News Excellence.
The San Jose-based Telemundo station also had a lot to celebrate. It picked up 13 awards – the most in the station’s 28-year history – including for “Best Daytime Newscast” and “Best Evening Newscast.”
San Francisco’S KDTV Univision 14 was also honored with 8 awards and Univision 21 in Fresno won best evening newscast in a medium market.
It must be noted that the Northern California National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences judges and scores Spanish and English award entries separately as part of two different contests, which are then presented at the annual ceremony.
Here’s the complete list of winners of the Emmy Spanish-language contest:

Emie Angel says
There are only 4 Spanish stations competing in the Spanish competition and non bay area entries pay less, the probabilities of winning are way higher than in the English competition. besides, the quality of two of them is horrible, leaving only two stations competing against each other and, in most cases, only against coworkers.
Are they cheating? nop, just taking advantage of the rules. The natas sf chapter benefits from the entries fees. the rule of having separate competition is because of years of complaints from the latino journalists, specially whom only speak spanish, for not winning .
The english stations in the chapter are angry about the bragging and rubbing in their faces when is well known about the vast quality of the SF stations product.
if you want really bad an Emmy statuette, just go and get a job in an spanish station, your chances are very high.

hoy en dia un EMMY lo gana cualquiera…un EMMY no te asegura un trabajo…
Emie Angel says
bichin, do you have an emmy? if you don’t, no worries. because you have to prove to your pals why and how you got it. y si, en algunos casos cualquiera lo gana…
bichin says
gracias
