Univision, seeking to expand its reach by including more English-language content within its portfolio, today launched Univision News.
The English-language section, which lives within UnivisionNoticias.com, aims to provide “news coverage with a unique Latino perspective that English speakers will not find on other media outlets.”
David Adams, Reuters’ former Miami Bureau Chief and ex Editor of Poder magazine, is in charge of Univision News.
The company also hired digital journalists Jessica Weiss and Rachel Glickhouse to produce content for the site.
The English-language section will include a curated selection of translated content from UnivisionNoticias.com, Univision TV and radio affiliates across the country, and its investigative unit Univision Investiga. There will also be collaborations with FUSION, in addition to original articles and features created specifically for the new section in English.
Univision has extended its English-language footprint with the launch of cable network and digital site Fusion, the 2015 acquisition of the African-American website The Root, and its $27.1 million purchase of a 40.5% controlling stake in The Onion earlier this year.
