He has accepted a job as Hispanic Publications Editor for Southern California News Group, the parent company of the Los Angeles Daily News.
He steps into the position left vacant by Sandra Baltazar Martínez in May.
In his new role, Carlos will oversee the print and online editions of three Spanish-language weeklies: Riverside’s La Prensa, Orange County’s Excelsior and L.A.’s Impacto.
He starts the new job on August 15.
This is the second time Carlos leaves La Opinión. He previously worked at the paper as a reporter from 2007 to 2011. That’s when he took a job as a Local Editor for Patch.com. During his time with the AOL-owned company, he helped launch bilingual site Patch Latino in Southern California.
Carlos also worked as a reporter for the L.A.’s Hoy newspaper and as Deputy Editor of The Press-Enterprise’s Spanish-language weekly La Prensa.
Before moving to the U.S., he worked as a Digital Editor at La Prensa Gráfica in his native El Salvador.
