Univision stations in Sacramento and San Francisco took home a combined 28 Emmys and Telemundo picked up 7 awards, during the 46th Annual Northern California Area EMMY Awards ceremony held last Saturday evening, June 3rd in San Francisco.
The Spanish and English-language award categories are judged and scored separately and don’t compete against each other.
Out of the 52 Spanish-language categories, KUVS Univision 19 won 15, KDTV Univision 14 picked up 13. Among its 7 Emmys, KSTS Telemundo 48 tied with KDTV for overall news excellence and won best daytime newscast for its morning show, which is no longer on the air.
