Univision has promoted three of its executives, changing their leadership roles within the station group, effectively immediately.
Ramón Pineda, who joined WXTV-Channel 41 in New York as VP and General Manager in 2005, will move on to a new role as SVP and Regional General Manager of Univision’s southeast stations. He’ll oversee operations in Atlanta, Raleigh, Philadelphia, Cleveland and Puerto Rico. He’ll remain based in New York.
In his new role, Pineda will work closely with Eddy Elguezábal, VP, GM and Director of Sales, who leads the teams in Atlanta, Raleigh and Philadelphia, and Mike Gillespie, President and GM of Univision Puerto Rico. Elguezábal and Gillespie will report to Pineda.
Roberto Yañez replaces Pineda as head of WXTV-41, with a title bump to SVP and General Manager. He has been VP and GM at Univision Arizona since 2010. Before that, he was VP of News at KMEX-34. He’ll be relocating back to New York, where he previously worked as WXTV’s news director.
In his new role, he’ll lead broadcast operations of WXTV, WFUT UniMás 68 and radio stations La Que Buena, 92.7, La X 96.3 and WADO 1280AM.
With his departure from Phoenix, Alejandra Santamaría was promoted from Director of Sales to VP, General Manager and Director of Sales of Univision Arizona.
Santamaría, who joined Univision Los Angeles in 1993, has held several positions in growing importance, until her move to Phoenix in 2014.
