Antonio Guernica is back in the media business. He has started a new job as General Sales Manager for Entercom’s Spanish format radio station El Zol 107.9 FM in the Washington, DC and Baltimore markets.
This new role marks Guernica’s return to the DC metro area, where he launched Univision affiliate WMDO (then Spanish International Network) in the early 1980’s, and ran the station as President of Los Cerezos Broadcasting Company. That station was sold to Entravision and is now a Unimás affiliate.
Guernica spent the past two years working as a financial advisor at Merrill Lynch.
He was previously Station Group Manager of the Media Vista Group, responsible for Univision, UniMás and Azteca América affiliates in the Ft. Myers-Naples market, and Univision Minneapolis and Kansas City, as well as their digital properties.
Guernica was VP and General Manager for Entravision’s Orlando station cluster from 2001 to 2011 and VP and General Manager of Mega Communications from 1998 to 2000.
He was General Manager of Univision Chicago, where he directed the transition of WGBO from an English independent to a Univision owned and operated station.
