Noticias Telemundo partners with Poynter Institute’s Politifact

Telemundo-Politifact

Noticias Telemundo and the Poynter Institute announced today an exclusive partnership to fact-check news for Spanish-language audiences ahead of the 2020 election.

The Poynter Institute’s own fact-checking news organization, PolitiFact, will do the fact-checking for Telemundo.

PolitiFact reporters and editors will be made available to Noticias Telemundo for on-air interviews, and Noticias Telemundo will be able to send statements for PolitiFact to fact-check.

The two organizations also will collaborate to translate PolitiFact fact-checks into Spanish for use both online and on TV.

Poynter acquired the nonprofit PolitiFact in 2018.

PolitiFact, which won a Pulitzer Prize in 2009 for national reporting, is the largest political fact-checking news organization in the United States. It has national reporters in St. Petersburg, Florida and Washington D.C. and news reporting partnerships in 13 states, including California, Texas, New York, Florida and Illinois.
