Carolina Valencia has landed a new role as director of communications and digital for NYC Kids RISE, a non-profit that works with families, schools and communities to help them save for children’s college education.
“As a Latina, an immigrant from Ecuador, and a New Yorker, I am excited to contribute to NYC Kids RISE’s efforts and financially empower my community and all communities that represent the face of this nation,” Valencia tells Media Moves.
Valencia was previously at Univision for eight years, working her way up the ranks. She left the company last July.
At the time of her exit, she was VP of Corporate Communications, a position she held for two years. While at Univision, she co-founded the company’s social media department, becoming its director from 2012 to 2015.
She previously spent six years at The New York Times, where she started her career as an intern, before moving on to a full time position as a communications associate in the Community Affairs and Media Relations team.
