Espinosa leaves KTLA for LA Sheriff’s communications role

Elizabeth Espinosa

Elizabeth Espinosa said good-bye to her KTLA-5 News reporting job last week, after two decades in the broadcast industry, to start a new role in communications.

The TV reporter and radio host is now executive director of communications for the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department.

She won’t leave the broadcast industry entirely. She’ll continue to host her radio talk show “Sunday Morning with Elizabeth Espinosa” on KFI-AM 640.

A well-know TV personality in Los Angeles, Espinosa will be tasked with leading strategic media and communications outreach efforts to elevate the visibility of the LASD.

An L.A. native, Espinoza started her career as an assignment desk editor at Telemundo 52. She moved on to on-air reporting at Telemundo 48 in the Bay Area, later working at Fox 6’s XETV-TV in San Diego, Univision’s KMEX-34 and KTTV-Fox 11 News’ morning show “Good Day LA.”

She also hosted nightly live talk show “Sin Límites con Elizabeth Espinosa” on the short-lived CNN Latino.

Most recently, Espinoza was co-host and producer of the weekly public affairs talk show PBS “Studio SoCal.”
