María Elena Salinas will have a much more visible role next week at CBS.
The former longtime Univision anchor made her debut as a CBS News contributor earlier this month on “CBS This Morning.” Now, she’ll be co-hosting the two-hour morning show, which airs from 7 to 9 am ET/PT.
Salinas will fill in for Gayle King, who will be off next week.
She will only co-host the show September 2-4, because she will then attend the NAHJ convention in San Antonio where she is scheduled to be on two panels.
Since joining the network, Salinas has also reported for the CBS Evening News.
I’m so happy that someone is replacing Gayle king on the am show. Maybe we’ll get a more unbiased comment to current events. The world is not just black and white

She’s just filling in while Gayle is on vacation. There is a reason why they gave Gayle all that money to keep her from leaving. She is very likable. Maybe you need to try another network if she’s not you cup of tea?
Thanks for your reply. I like Gayle King. She is bright, thoughtful, amusing on occasion, and most enjoyable. And I think she try’s hard to be totally unbiased. As you said, try another network if you’re not happy.

If she’s not your cup of tea maybe you should try another network. There is a reason why CBS gave Gayle that boat full of money to stay with the network. She is smart and likable.
Do not find Gayle “smart” and do not appreciate her constant “editorializing”……has a
compulsion to “have the last word”……very irritating.

It took me a while to get used to Gayle and the morning show. I love her and how honest and unafraid she is of giving her opinions. I do miss the gentleman who had been on with her and is gone. I hope the show survives

Gayle king has no business doing reporting. She is not a reporter and has never been one. I love CBS this morning but have stopped watching it since she is there now. I love all the reporters but can not stand Gayle king. The only reason she got the job is because she is such friends with oprah. CBS had to be out of their minds giving her that salary. She certainly does not deserve it I watch CBS Saturday and CBS Sunday all the time. Love the shows. But will not watch CBS morning as long as she is there. Will watch it this week cause she is on vacation. Gayle is why all the turmoil happened for sure. She had ruined the morning show.

For all you “nay sayers.” You don’t like Gayle, there are appendages the good lord gave us if we were lucky called fingers which enables one to change the channel, do that. But, before doing so, think about why you really don’t like her because she’s as good as any CBS has had. Think about why you don’t even want her to have an
opinion or why she has to be dumb because you don’t like her or disagree with her. Now, I want you to remember this is a, Black woman, as you can clearly see, you did say that you could see right? Which means CBS isn’t a dumb organization therefore they are not paying her those big bucks for nothing or because she’s dumb. Believe me you, to get to where she is hasn’t been a walk in the park. Just being who she is means she has had to pay her dues. So, get a dictionary and find a word other than dumb to describe CBS’S lead anchor. Because now all of you are sounding DUMB.

I love Gayle King she is not afraid to speak what is on her mind. She is an excellent communicator and always has interesting ideas and things to say. I also love her wardrobe she always looks so professional and has the most beautiful clothes.

I don’t care for Gayle’s style on air either. I watch only because I can’t stand the audience pandering and “pop news” culture of the other morning shows. No one needs to be paid in the millions of dollars for the job that they do on these shows. It’s just ridiculous.

We have enjoyed CBS morning, and Gayle, after tiring of other networks left sided angle on everything. Our feeling is that they are relatively neutral, and enjoy Gayle’s real persons comments, and viewpoints.
I’ve watched CBS Saturday and Sunday Morning for years, but switched to CBS during the week because both GMA and Today Show are like watching entertainment news shows…and I think Gayle would do better on either of those shows. She’s just not a hard news reporter. Thank god for Anthony Mason , because I don’t like the other new guy either.

The fact that after so many years, Salinas has been able to reinvent herself in such amazing way; this is the real gem here.
It did not matter that her beginnings was anything but News.
Neither it mattered that Ramos kept trying to get of her in so many ways throughout so many years.
Few, very few in that business have been able to make it out with a bigger gong. Kudos to that.
I would like to formulate my own opinions on news….I don’t need Gayle King continuously giving her opinion on every news item…blah, blah, blah, blah, blah!!!!
