Univision’s New York station, headquartered in Teaneck, N.J., is working with a skeleton crew since Sunday, after the city’s mayor called for the entire community of 40,000 people to self-quarantine, amid a rise in COVID-19 cases.
A source reported that on Sunday, Univision told staffers it decided to “close the channel” and that “a small group will be quarantined at the Marriot Hotel.”
A Univision spokesperson denied that any Univision 41 staffers were quarantined, but acknowledged that many employees have been working from home and “a small group of essential personnel are currently managing news operations at the station,” adding that “news coverage remains uninterrupted.”
Media Moves has been told that the Teaneck Marriott is a backup plan location, if the news team working at the station should need it during the COVID-19 crisis.
