Juan Ponce has been promoted to SVP and General Manager of its recently launched Telemundo Streaming Studios.
In his new role, he’ll be responsible for leading the new venture created to produce original premium scripted content exclusively designed for direct-to-consumer platforms. He’ll also keep overseeing production operations, production design and Telemundo’s Underground Producciones in Argentina.
He’ll continue to report to Marcos Santana, President of Telemundo Global Studios.
As part of a Telemundo Global Studios realignment, Karen Barroeta, EVP of production and development, will expand her responsibilities to now oversee talent and casting, scripted Development and the head writers’ team, in addition to her overall production responsibilities for long-format scripted content.
Most recently, Ponce was SVP of production operations and strategy for Telemundo Global Studios, in charge of strategic planning, business and production operations, financial strategies, administration, and investments, as well as supervising the future development and casting and talent management teams and helping with the creation and expansion of premium, short-form mini-series.
Ponce was previously VP of finance and corporate strategy for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.
Prior to joining NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises in 2016, Ponce was CEO and Founder of New Generation Media, a Hispanic media startup focused on content production and distribution.
