Eugene Ramirez has returned to news as live desk anchor of the evening edition of its “The National Desk” newscast, broadcast on 64 Sinclair stations in 60 markets.
He is now based in Washington , D.C.
He made his on-air debut during the newscast’s launch on September 27. The new newscast airs weeknights from 10 p.m. to midnight ET.
Ramirez appears throughout the show anchoring breaking news and developing stories.
This marks his return to news after a three-year break, during which he worked as a public affairs consultant and director of communications for the city of Miami.
“I have and will always be a journalist. My work in government communications and public affairs gives me a deeper understanding of issues that affect our audience across the country,” Ramirez tells Media Moves. “It’s rewarding to now bring that depth to our editorial process as I work to share real-time developments with our viewers from the Live Desk.”
Ramirez was previously morning anchor at WFOR, the CBS O&O station in Miami. Before that, he worked as a morning anchor for NBC affiliate WFLA Tampa and reporter at Fox affiliate WSVN Miami. He also helped launch Central Florida’s News 13 en Español in Orlando, where he wrote, produced and anchored Spanish-language weekend newscasts.
