Ending deal with Entravision, Univision takes over Orlando, Tampa and DC, taps Elguezabal to run Florida stations

Univision today announced it is ending its affiliate agreement with Entravision and will take back operations of its stations in Orlando, Tampa and Washington D.C., adding them to its local media division.

The stations are owned by Univision but were operated by Entravision under a licensing and joint sales agreement that concludes on December 31, 2021.

Univision will assume operations of the affiliate stations starting January 1, 2022.

Eddy Elguezábal has been named president and general manager of Univision Orlando and Univision Tampa. He most recently led all operations at Univision’s Atlanta, Philadelphia, and Raleigh stations.

Univision says it will appoint a president and general manager for Washington D.C. and make additional announcements about news, content and programming details for each stations in the coming months.

Univision owns 61 TV stations in 26 markets, 36 carry Univision, 20 UniMas, and 4 carry affiliate True Crime network. Tampa, Orlando and D.C. are among the 61, which also includes three others that have joint sales agreements with Entravision in Albuquerque, Boston, and Boulder. It also has 74 affiliates across the country.
