Univision Chicago has chosen Luis Felipe Godinez to take over as Vice President of News. He replaces Teri Arvesu, who left the station in September for a promotion to a new, yet undisclosed corporate role.
Godinez is currently news director at KUVS Univision 19 in Sacramento, a position he’s held since February 2020.
His last day at the Sacramento station is October 29.
He starts his new role at WGBO Chicago on November 1.
In an internal memo to staff, Doug Levy, president and GM of Univision Chicago, said Godinez’s hire was made “after an extensive review of a large pool of highly qualified and talented candidates” and that he “is a forward-thinking journalist who brings with him with a wide range of experience” that will help shape the newsroom “to best position us for growth and success in the future.”
Godinez was previously assistant news director and executive producer at Univision KDTV 14 in the San Francisco Bay Area. Before that, he was a reporter and anchor at the Univision affiliate in Denver.
