Erika Aguilar is joining NPR as executive producer of “Morning Edition” and morning news podcast “Up first,” based in Washington, D.C.
She starts the new job Monday, November 8.
Aguilar comes from San Francisco NPR-member radio station KQED, where she spent four years.
Most recently, she was director of podcasts, overseeing podcast production teams, new show development and on demand strategy. During her time at KQED, she helped launch journalism projects, including “Consider This” and “On Our Watch.” Before that, she was a podcast editor, producer, reporter and anchor.
Prior to her move to the Bay Area, she worked as a reporter at Southern California Public Radio’s KPCC in Los Angeles and KUT in Austin.
Aguilar started in the broadcast industry as an assignment editor at Austin’s CBS affiliate KEYE-TV.
