Dax Tejera named executive producer of ABC’s “This Week”

Dax Tejera, who had been leading “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” since the beginning of the pandemic, has been named executive producer of the Sunday morning show.

ABC News president Kim Godwin announced the promotion in an internal message to the news division, in which she pointed out:

“Dax assumed leadership of ‘This Week’ one week before the team had to adjust its production to the realities of the COVID-19 pandemic. Coming into this role during an extremely uncertain time, his vision has helped “This Week” climb to new heights – the program is now #1 in Adults 25-54 for the first time in six years.”

Tejera came aboard ABC News in 2017 as a senior producer in the Washington Bureau, where he produced remote-anchored broadcasts from across the country and specials from the Trump-Kim summit in Singapore and Trump-Putin summit in Helsinki.

During his tenure at “This Week,” he oversaw breaking news coverage, including the ongoing pandemic, the 2020 presidential election and the January 6 riot at the Capitol.

He has also worked on broadcast and streaming special events for ABC News, including September 2021’s “Corazón de América – Celebrating Hispanic Culture,” which he co-executive produced.

Prior to joining ABC News, Tejera was the executive producer of “América with Jorge Ramos,” which aired on cable net Fusion, initially a Univision/ABC News joint venture that ended in a break-up, no longer produces original programming and is scheduled to cease operations on December 31, 2021.

Tejera previously worked as a producer at MSNBC and launched “Jansing & Co.” and “NOW with Alex Wagner.” He started his career with NBC News, working as an assignment editor and researcher.
