Former Univision reporter and anchor Mariana Pineda has landed a job at NASA as a public affairs specialist, based in Houston.
Over the past 7 years, Pineda has criss-crossed between news media and communications jobs.
She was most recently a Texas news correspondent for Radio Bilingüe, as well as a deputy public information officer for theHarris County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management in Houston. Before that, she worked as a social media specialist and assignment editor at Tribune Media’s KIAH CW-39.
Pineda previously spent over 9 years as a reporter and anchor at Univision Austin and Univision Houston.
She tells Media Moves nothing compares to landing a job at NASA.
“Being part of NASA’s communications team is without a doubt a dream come true. I thank God for granting the desires of my heart, as well as my family, for their continued support. As a Latina journalist, I feel very fortunate for this incredible opportunity, and I hope that more Latina women become part of NASA. Better yet, hopefully by 2024, the first woman to explore the moon under Artemis’ mission will be a Latina just like Callie Rodriguez, NASA’s fictional and digital graphic novel character.”
