The Weather Channel en Español premieres today with a team meteorologists recruited from Univision and Telemundo stations across the country.
The first on-air team includes Albert Martinez, Henry Golac, Milmar Ramirez, Jessica Fernández, Abel Hernandez and Lorena Lim.
Martínez is the team’s senior meteorologist, responsible for directing and managing all aspects of weather content for TWCE, including integrating his previous experience in augmented and immersive mixed reality as a Max Reality Ambassador for The Weather Company (IBM). He was most recently chief meteorologist for Univision Network’s Despierta America, Edición Digital, Noticiero Univision and PrendeTV.
Golac was previously chief meteorologist at Telemundo in Arizona. He has also held roles at Univision Orlando, Radio Exito 105.5 FM and America Teve Channel 41.
Ramírez previously worked as a meteorologist for Telemundo and Univision in Dallas from 2014 to 2018.
Fernández has worked at Univision 23 Miami, NBC KGNS 8 Gray Television in Laredo, Texas and WSVN Channel 7 Miami/Sunbeam Television.
Hernández has worked as a weather anchor for Univision and Telemundo in New York, Miami, Dallas and San Antonio markets.
Lim arrives to TWCE from Salt Lake City, where she was a chief meteorologist for the Telemundo local station. She was previously chief meteorologist at a local Oklahoma news station, and held roles as a forecaster and researcher at Cuba’s National Institute of Oceanography and the National Institute of Meteorology.
Former Univision and Telemundo news exec Sussy Ruiz, was hired as editor-in-chief of TWCE in August 2021, charged with hiring the Spanish-language team and launch the new network.
