Marilú Gálvez has been named president and general manager of WABC-TV, becoming the first Latina to lead an ABC O&O and an English-language station in NYC.
In her new role, Galvez will be responsible for ABC7/WABC-TV and its ancillary businesses.
Gálvez was most recently VP of Community Engagement and Development for WABC-TV, a post she has held since 2018.
She is also the committee lead for the Disney Media & Entertainment Distribution Networks’ Diversity Equity and Inclusion team.
She worked her way up the ranks over a 20-year career at WABC, starting at the assignment desk before becoming managing editor.
Prior to joining WABC in 2001, Gálvez worked as a production assistant and assignment editor at WNJU Telemundo 47.
