The Telemundo Station Group is going to launch a regional morning newscast for its Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, McAllen and El Paso, Texas stations.
The two-hour “Noticias Telemundo Texas” will air Monday to Friday from 5 to 7 am CT, starting September 26.
To accommodate the new program, Telemundo’s “hoyDía” national morning show will be pushed an hour later in those markets to 7 am CT, instead of its current 6 am CT starting slot.
“Noticias Telemundo Texas” will be anchored from The Studios at DFW, home to KXTX Telemundo 39, KXAS NBC 5 and LX News network and fed to the other stations.
The company says it is currently hiring for behind camera and on-camera roles to support this local news launch.
No anchors or reporters have officially been announced yet.
However, inside sources tell Media Moves execs have zeroed in on Carlos Zapata and Analía Fiestas as the anchors for the new show and have brought in Karuska Matos Horta from Univision 45 Houston to be the new show’s meteorologist.
The company would not confirm or comment on the talent lineup.
